NG-CDF Boosts Education Infrastructure in Karachuonyo with School Bus Handover and Dining Hall Project Inspection
The National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) continues to strengthen education infrastructure in Karachuonyo Constituency through targeted investments aimed at improving learning conditions and student welfare.
The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Economic Planning, Dr. Bonface Makokha, presided over the official handover of a 46-seater school bus to Karabondi Bidii Senior School, alongside an operational vehicle for the Karachuonyo NG-CDF Office. The event was held in the presence of Area MP Hon. Andrew Adipo Okuome, NG-CDF Board Chair Hon. Olago Aluoch, CBS, Board Director Hon. Naomi Masitsa, NG-CDF Board CEO Mr. Yusuf Mbuno, EBS, and other leaders in Karachuonyo, Homabay County.
The newly handed-over school bus is expected to significantly benefit students and the wider community by:
Improving access to school and boosting attendance
Enhancing student safety and security
Supporting participation in sports and co-curricular activities
Improving administrative and operational efficiency
Following the handover ceremony, the NG-CDF Board team visited George Agola Owuor Secondary School to monitor and evaluate the construction of a fully equipped dining hall and kitchen, currently 65% complete. The project is funded under the NG-CDF Board Best Practice Demonstration Programme (BPDP). Once completed, the facility will greatly improve student welfare, as learners have previously been taking meals outdoors under trees.
The Best Practice Demonstration Programme (BPDP) was established to address key development challenges across constituencies, with a strong focus on improving education infrastructure, equipping learning facilities, and promoting transparency and accountability in project implementation.
In a related initiative, NG-CDF Board Director Hon. Naomi Masitsa, accompanied by Board CEO Mr. Yusuf Mbuno, EBS, and in the presence of Area MP Hon. Walter Owino (Awendo Constituency), commissioned a fully equipped block of three (3) classrooms at St. Joseph’s Kamyawa Secondary School under the BPDP.
The team also visited Anindo Comprehensive School, where eight (8) new classrooms in a modern storey building have been constructed. The project has significantly enhanced access to quality education while easing congestion in learning spaces across the constituency.
Additionally, St. Joseph’s Kamyawa Secondary School received a 46-seater school bus, further boosting student welfare and school operations. The bus will enhance safety during travel, support academic, sports, and co-curricular activities, and ease the transportation burden on parents and guardians. This intervention is expected to motivate learners, increase enrolment, and promote holistic student development.
