Kambirwa Secondary Gets a Game-Changing Science Lab, Thanks to NG-CDF Board
A once quiet rural school is now buzzing with excitement. Kambirwa Secondary School in Kiharu Constituency has just received a fully equipped, modern science laboratory—thanks to the NG-CDF Board’s Best Practice Demonstration Programme (BPDP).
During a routine monitoring visit to the constituency, the NG-CDF Board CEO and a team from the Secretariat visited the school where the programme has funded to completion a 45-student capacity lab, a critical milestone for a school that opened its doors only three years ago.
Established in 2022 by the Kiharu NG-CDF, Kambirwa Secondary was born out of necessity. Students in the area had long been traveling far—sometimes at great financial and personal cost—just to access secondary education.
The school has since become a beacon of hope for the local community.
But while the buildings went up, something was still missing—a proper science lab.
Now, that gap has been filled.
The new lab isn’t just a room full of equipment. It’s a space where biology, chemistry, and physics can finally come alive for students. With hands-on experiments and real-world learning, Kambirwa’s learners are no longer spectators in science—they’re participants.
And it couldn’t have come at a better time. The school is gearing up to present its first ever KCSE candidates in 2025.
The science lab is just one example of how the BPDP is raising the bar across Kenya. By embedding best practices—like transparency, sustainability, and community involvement—into NG-CDF-funded projects, the programme is turning good intentions into lasting impact.
For Kambirwa, this lab means students can explore their potential, discover new passions, and pursue future careers.
With its first KCSE class around the corner and new resources in place, the future looks bright for Kambirwa Secondary. One thing is clear: when government programmes are implemented with care and vision, education doesn’t just improve—it transforms lives.
